Question by solomon j: are there foods that reduce a nursing dogs milk production?
My dog just had puppies and when I ran out of dog food i resorted to table food, now it seems like she isn’t producing enough milk

No, you reduced her food consumption, get food, plenty of fresh water, and her milk will go down on its own once she stops feeding them.

No. The body will deplete itself to feed the puppies including body fat an muscle stores. The milk production is made to meet the demands of the offspring.

I think the first 3 that answered misunderstood the question. She needs to be on puppy food which will help her make more milk. You can also feed her cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter. The extra protein will help her too. I don’t think that feedig her a little table food caused her to make less milk, but not having enough protein and calcium can and will. If you haven’t bought the puppy food by now, please do so. If not, you will be bottle feeding those puppies.
If she is making very little milk you should take her to the vet to find out why. Sometimes the milk will just dry up without any known cause. In that case the pups will all need to be bottle fed.
